St. Augustine, FL: St. George Street

From the old city gate to St. Augustine’s central plaza, St. George Street is a traffic-free road in the historic district set up for shoppers, diners and folks who just want to have a nice relaxing walk.

Stores and restaurants blend with restored or recreated historic buildings to offer visitors an initial taste of what the city has to offer.

On special days throughout the year, St. George becomes a highway for reenactors. Soldiers, pirates and Native American warriors fill the street and thrill observers.
