Yes! Sliding Beneath the Surface is finally out there in the world inhaling its first full breath, at least in e-book form. The print version won’t be far behind. At last, The St. Augustine Trilogy begins to take its place on stage.
It has been a long haul getting that book ready for release but such great fun. Working on it and the rest of the trilogy has given me a unique opportunity to use my firsthand knowledge of paranormal activity and blend it with a deep appreciation for the old city of St. Augustine, FL. In mentioning St. Augustine, I can’t resist inserting at least one photo here in this blog. If you care to see more like it, check out my photo gallery.
What you see in the picture above is the Castillo de San Marcos, the old Spanish fort built hundreds of years ago. I share this image with you here because it points to my interest in Florida and St. Augustine history, and how, long ago, I decided to weave parts of it into the trilogy.
In that light, I used the pen and ink drawing below on the four pages of Sliding Beneath the Surface that divide the book into sections. This picture is of St. Augustine’s old city gate by a man who lived there as a child in the late 1800’s.
Most of all though, Sliding Beneath the Surface offered me a chance to develop teenage characters and pit them not only against the world they know, but also against the very nature of reality itself. To be even more specific, in Jeff Golden are bits and pieces of every troubled young adult I’ve ever worked with during my years as a public school educator. His struggles to understand himself and make sense out what he has to face in life are their struggles in a way but greatly magnified.
Enough for now. Thanks so much visiting my website and taking the time to read my musings. May your own struggles be small and your peace of mind great.
