Spotlight on Writers: Ginny Rorby

Fellow writer and Winter Park High School classmate, Ginny Rorby, was in the Orlando area this week. I found her at Books-A-Million in Casselberry doing a book signing. How delightful to see a writer in such a natural habitat.

Ginny writes for young people and there are always animals in her stories. Great stuff! I really enjoy reading her books. What’s even better though, is to see Ginny interacting with the kids who come to see her at a bookstore. As an old schoolteacher, it warms my heart to see an author being so gracious and kind to the wide-eyed youngsters she encounters. They start out so in awe of her but she quickly melts that ice and makes new friends in the process.

Lost in the River of Grass is Ginny’s newest book. You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy this one, or any of her books for that matter. If you like adventure, the Everglades and critters, you’ll love this story.
